Great Tasting Sushi for Home

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Sushi is one of the best tasting dishes that you eat anywhere. Most of the time it is usually enjoyed in great Japanese restaurants.

But sometimes people want to make great sushi for the home.I should know.  I own a Sushi Restaurant Murrieta and get asked all the time by my customers. They want to always know what the secret to great tasting fish is so you can make it at home?

I always kid around and tell them it is impossible and they will have to always come to my restaurant.  But seriously, if you want some great tips to try and make some great sushi at home listen up.

First off, have a great time.  Remember, you are not trying to make this for a Sushi restaurant Temecula full of people. You more often than not are making it for friends and relatives.

Remember great tasting food doesn't have to look beautiful. So relax because you have to remember there will be a learning curve.

For the rice, it is a must that it is sticky. So if you do not want rice all over the place, wash your hands often.

Another great piece of advice is don't try to make the world's largest sushi.Yes all the ingredients taste wonderful.  But when you try and put too much ingredients into one roll it will be a disaster. You are going to have rolls that don't roll up.You are going to have all the ingredients spilling all over the place because it is overstuffed.

Just do not do it.

Fourth piece of advice, be gentle.Resist the urge to use a lot of force. When you are actually making the Sushi, all you need to do is gently roll.  Too much pressure with your fingertips or hand and the rolls will come out looking funny or in odd shapes.

Final piece of advice is regarding knives.Obviously when you make sushi, it requires small bits of fish.Well to stop the fish from tearing, make sure the knife is moistened. This gives you the ability to cut into it with the knife evenly.  You will have nicer cuts of fish that you can put into the sushi roll.

There you go.  Follow these few steps and you will be making great sushi like at my Sushi Restaurant Lake Elsinore.

Making Sushi does not have to be difficult. It has to be fun and enjoyable, but more importantly delicious.

How to Take better Candid Shots

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Taking photographs of people have two categories. They are candid shots or portraits.

Portraits are the photos you take when your subject strikes poses.  While the candids are usually when your subject is doing something natural.

I would like to focus on taking candid shots.  There is an art to this form of photography and if you follow these few steps, you will be pleased with your work.  This is from my experience as a San Diego Photographer.

First off you don’t want to get in the way.  Most candid shots you take of course are going to be people going about their business, but the secret to taking a great shot like that is to make sure they are unaware of the shot.

Because often, if you let them notice you, you will miss the essence of that unguarded shot.So be diligent in making sure they don’t know about the camera.

Another thing to think about is the environment or the setting.  When you are taking a candid shot, the setting plays a vital role. You want the candid photo to be able to capture the subject in their setting as natural as possible. It’s that setting
whether it is their work, their house, or the street they are walking, helps tell a story of your subject’s life.  This is especially important if you are going to be taking shots as a Wedding Photographer San Diego.

A third thing to consider or do is anticipating behavior. An important part to being able to take candid photos of people who are acting naturally is to know what your subject will do next in a situation.

This will help you if you are trying to catch something in particular because it will allow you to be prepared rather than miss the shot.Knowing their reactions and anticipating it so you can capture it on film is all about anticipation.

Finally, look for those events that cause a person’s expressions to be expressed.  Because after all, when taking these types of shots, that is the main thing you want to capture in these candid shots is emotion.

Take a look at what your subject is doing and think about whether or not it’s a moment that will express an emotion.Such as an expression of impatience at a stoplight.Or a joyful emotion displayed at an event.Every second in time is an opportunity to capture a moment of beautiful emotion.Being ready for those types of moments helps you capture that moment in time to tell that story.

Taking shots that are candid is an art form in and of itself.Especially if your goal is to tell a story with your candid shots. Following these few simple steps will help you be on the road of capturing as many storytelling moments as possible as a photographer.

More Bang for Your Buck with Mobile Billboards

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

There is a growing movement of advertising dollars going to another form of advertising for businesses large and small. I am not referring to doing some advertising on the internet.  What I am talking about is doing outdoor media advertising and more specifically truck advertising.

Outdoor media advertising comes in many forms but one of the forms that is gaining much popularity is using truckside advertising.

Today a prospect has a lot of choices on whether or not they want to see an advertisement.  With the advent of Tivo and satellite radio, a consumer can easily switch off completely any of the traditional forms of advertising.

That is why there are a lot of businesses that are looking for other ways to advertise.  They want more ways to reach consumers.

But not only are they begging for other ways to reach the customer, they want it to work.

Mobile billboard advertising has that advantage.  It allows an advertiser to get their message out in a way that can’t be turned off. With the way the message gets to the consumer it is plain to see why.

You have the businesses advertisement prominently displayed on a truckside or on a mobile billboard. Those are trucks made specifically to be a mobile billboard.

With their ad prominently displayed, and appearing to them in traffic.  A consumer can’t help but read it. For a business that wants the ability to create brand recognition, this is a way they should consider.

Then when it is compared to other ways of advertising.  The mobile billboards prices are actually very competitive, if not cheaper for what you get.

Because when you think about it, your advertisment will be noticed by the consumer because of they way it is delivered. More often it is likely at rush hour, or when they get stuck in traffic.  So the consumer has nothing to do but read it. With that in it’s favor their add can easily be shown.

When you understand how much is being spent on outdoor media, you realize a lot of businesses are taking advantage of its potential.  In 2004 alone, $5.8 billion dollars was spent.

So for a business looking to expand in other ways to get their ad message out to the consumer, using truckside advertising is something they ought to consider.

Not the usual stand alone billboards people are used to seeing. But something put right in the consumer’s face is most definitely going to get the message across.

Zachary Quinto’s fingers glued together for Spock’s salute in Star Trek

I watched a trailer for the new movie Star Trek on my PC using Satellite TV To PC software from www.review-satellite-tv-for-pc.com Later, I’ll tell you how you can easily do the same.

For now, let me tell you about the problem the makers of the new Star Trek movie had when filming. Every household has heard of the Vulcan salute. You separate your four fingers to form a V shape. Unfortunately, Mr Spock just couldn’t do the Vulcan Salute.

So what did the makers of this multi-million blockbuster do? Did they use stunning high-tech effects? No, they decided upon a low-tech but absolutely logical idea. They opted to stick the actor Zachary's fingers together with glue.

Quinto, 31, admitted to the newspapers that he discovered it was impossible for him to form his fingers into the distinctive V-shaped gesture, saying: “It’s much harder than it looks. Seriously.”

Someone on the set is reported to have said: “Zach could do the salute some of the time but only after he’d positioned his fingers the right way off-camera.

In some shots he must to do the V greeting whilst delivering his lines so they resulted in using skin-protective superglue, like they use in medical centres, to stick his fingers together.”

William Shatner, who played the original Captain Kirk, was also unable to do the salute. Apparently, he used fishing line to keep his fingers apart.

As you probably know, Mr Spock is half-human, half-Vulcan. Zachary Quinto is well suited to the role, he appears very Spocky with his black bowl haircut, slanting eyebrows, and blue costume.

The two geek pop icons, Captain Kirk and Mr Spock, have infiltrated a Romulan warcraft only to see their mission explode into an exploding phaser fight. No longer are their usual Trek weapons little plastic toys, but cool silver weapons with spring-triggered barrels that revolve and glow in the transition from ‘’stun” to ”kill.” The problem is, every time Kirk raises his ray gun, the barrel revolves too early and he kills everything in sight. Mr Spock says his famous catchphrase a few times ”Most illogical, captain.”
